Hello,

New to Harmony here, and trying to add my first post to a blog.

In the blog management screen, when I click on Add New Post, I get the Title and Labels fields, but no content field.

Am I missing something? At first I thought it was a matter of saving the draft first, but even after that the field doesn't show...

    Hi Oliver! To get content fields to show on the post edit form, make sure that you have template data assigned to the template you're using for the post, most likely blog.post.tpl. Pop into the Themes area of your site, and edit your blog.post.tpl template, and add whatever data you want to collect into the 'Template Data' sidebar on the right (an excerpt and body, for instance). Then, when you edit or add a new blog post, you'll see the forms there to collect the data.

    Did you start off with the sample widget site or a site from scratch? If its a site from scratch you need to go to Site Administration (when you first load your site its in the left sidebar) then Themes, then edit the default theme. Once in there click on blog.post.tpl and then in the right hand sidebar you'll see where you can add fields to this template. Add a Long Text field and name it something like body or content. Save the template. Now in Manage Content you can create a blog post and it will have the new area to enter content :)

    Now when you're ready to work on the display of that content, go back to themes and to blog.post.tpl and hover over the fields in the right sidebar. As you hover you'll notice a little blue arrow indicating you can copy that field into the template. So for example my blog.post.tpl looks something like this:

{{ item.title }}

{{ item.data.body }}

    Hi Steve + Jonathan,

    Thanks, going to follow these steps then.

    Feels a little counter-intuitive though. Why offer a Blog page-type, with default title and labels fields, but not a content or body field in the default theme? I was assuming the basics would be there without need of customization to start using it.

    Aside from that, it's very close to being a quick off-the-shelf blog.

    This is meant as constructive criticism, of course. I understand and love the way you guys designed the template data addition, it's one of the reasons i decided to go with Harmony to create a custom CMS for one of my clients, and if all goes well, to all my future clients in need of that.

    Yes, we agree with your suggestions, and have been working on tightening up the 'first time experience' of Harmony. We've got some very exciting things coming up which should help this immensely. Thanks for your feedback, and we're glad you're enjoying Harmony!
