Microsoft Word WYSIWYG text field formatting issue

Hi Guys,

When pasting from a Microsoft Word document into a Harmony WYSIWYG text field a lot of extra formatting tags and comments are included that are not needed. I have created a draft page here to demostrate:

http://villagetheatre.org.nz/admin/#/admin/items/4d8fc295dabe9d722a...

It would be great if all the mso comments mce:style tags and object tags could be stripped out when pasting from word. As an added complication when using the "strip_tags" liquid text filter ( http://villagetheatre.org.nz/admin/#/admin/items/4d8fc295dabe9d722a... ) not all of this formatting text is stripped. So when I try and strip_tags then truncate the text to 20 words using the truncatewords filter all I get is word tags/comments rather than the actual page body text.

Please let me know if you need any more info.

Cheers,
Isaac

Hi Isaac, I'm going to look into this for you, not sure how much can be done.

Isaac, I don't have an answer for you right now. We may be changing WYSIWYG editors in the near future (to fix a crashing bug we get a lot of support requests about) and there is the possibility that the new editor will have a sanitize option. Not likely, but possible. I'll keep you appraised.

    Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for looking into this. I remember this just used to work on the previous version of the site which we hosted on Mephisto using TinyMCE, so I looked at the difference between the two installations. I think the reason it used to work on the old site is that we had the TinyMCE "paste" plugin installed: http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/wiki.php/Plugin:paste

Do you think it would be possible to enable this plugin on the Harmony installation of TinyMCE?

    Cheers,
    Isaac

Isaac, I'm looking into this still, the issue being we were looking at other editors because of weird javascript issues we've had with the TinyMCE editor.

I'll let you know more as soon as I can.

    Isaac:

I just deployed an update to Harmony that made significant updates to the WYSIWYG editor, including a 'Paste from Word' button. Let me know if it works as expected. Thanks!

    Hi Steve,

Just heard back from a client who is using this feature and apparently it is working great. Thanks for your help getting this sorted out.

    Cheers,
    Isaac
