Re-direct Issue

Hi there

I'm trying to create sub pages within my home/landing page without them being read as website sections. Is it possible to do this?

As an attempted remedy to this situation I have removed the root/landing page from the navigation, created as section called 'Home' and have tried setting up a redirect from '/' to '/home/' but this doesn't seem to work... is this the right way to go about this dilemma?

I should also point out that when I do save the redirect it doesn't seem to stop saving (i.e. it is indefinitely trying to save). However, if I close the window and come back to it later the redirect does have appeared to save. Maybe my browser might be contributing to the issue...I'm using Firefox 3.6.10...

Hopefully all this made sense

Actually, we don't currently allow redirecting the root page, I believe.
Redirects only get called if a page does not exist matching the path. Since
you cannot delete the home page, the page will always be there and will
never hit the redirect. That probably clears up the problem you were having.

Can you explain more what you are trying to do? I am not sure I understand
why you want to redirect / to /home/.

    Ah I see...

Basically I'm fixing up this (poorly coded) website and bringing it across to Harmony http://www.furneaux.co.nz/ . You will notice that the landing page has 'sub-pages/faux children' titled 'the crew' and 'history'. I want to recreate this.

Generally I would use the 'item.children' code but if I were to use this on the landing page '/' it would pull all the sections again, pretty much resulting in a duplicate navigation bar...

The site I'm working on is http://furneaux.harmonyapp.com/

I would just make them children of the home page, uncheck show in navigation
and hard code those pages in. Thoughts?

It's not ideal, but yeah that's probably the best option for the time being. Thanks for your help
