Editing locally?

Is there anyway to edit template files locally using something like coda instead of using the online editor? Not that i don't love it, it's far far better than square spaces editor but it would be nice to use a true text editor on my machine.

    You could edit the document locally, then upload your changes using the multiple-file uploader in the theme, but that's about it right now. We'd love to see local editing once we have an API wrapped around themes.

    One other possibility is most browsers have extensions that allow you to
    edit textareas in your favorite editor and then transfer the text back to
    the textarea whenever you save.
